Internet Marketing Best [Blog] Posts of 2006: The Year in Review

A collection of the best Internet Marketing Posts of 2006 in SEO, Link Building, Site Usability, Social Networking, Blogging, Copywriting, PPC/Adsense, and Search Engines.

Given that I’ve only recently become involved in Internet Marketing, it still is something that I am learning more and more about, and there are a lot of blog posts and books that have helped me along the way. In light of my anti-Digg post, I wanted to take this moment to appreciate the best [blog] posts in the Internet Marketing world of the year — those that have significantly increased my awareness of this exciting field. That said, these are mostly how-to and tips/secrets posts, where some come from a beginner’s level and others are more advanced. I’ve done a lot of digging (this was mostly by hand rather than from existing bookmarks!) and am hoping I have included a huge chunk of them, though I realize that this has been a tremendous undertaking and there are simply too many blog posts out there (thanks, guys!). Since I started reading SEO blogs mid-year (and I can’t possibly read all of them on a regular basis), I know I’m missing more! If anyone has any essential posts to add, please feel free to leave them in the comments. πŸ™‚

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite posts of 2006.

Internet Marketing (posts that include a little bit of everything)

Search Engine Optimization

Link Building

Site Design/Usability

Social Networking/Social Media Optimization

Copywriting

Blogging

Search-Engine Specific (Google, Yahoo, and MSN too)

PPC/Adsense/Paid Inclusion

Other Links and Resources

This has been a great year, and there are probably hundreds of posts I’ve inadvertently left off, but I wanted to make sure this post was completed before the year ended. πŸ˜‰

Happy New Year everyone!

Hey Tamar (did I get your name correctly?)

You sure you are just starting out? Really a treasure cove of resources here! Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I’m also into internet marketing/online business but I am REALLY the one who’s just starting out! πŸ™‚

    Cheers!

  2. Yes, you got my name right. Other spellings (Tamara, etc.) are variants based on the Tamar spelling. My name came first! πŸ™‚ The roots are actually biblical (Genesis 38).

A big part in learning all this is reading, reading, and reading even more! I come into this field with nothing but sysadmin experience (really!). As I learn more and more about this, I get more and more excited; without a doubt, there’s a lot to take from it and a good amount of the resources are online.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Hey Tamar,

Great collection you’ve got hear. I think I could spend all day with this stuff and at the end of that time have enough info to write several internet marketing books…

Your post definitely deserves a bookmark!

Whew! This is really a lot of stuff. But it is nice that you have a rundown of these things. I am interested on web marketing and SEO too. The resources here probably are good recommendation for me.

Wow, what an unbelievable resource. That must have taken you an absolute AGE. Now, if someone could find a semi-automatic way of doing that, so you won’t have to spend so much time… hmmm… Oh yes, I think they did do that- it’s called Digg πŸ™‚
Ok, I’m also semi-anti-Digg, but I think not all such sites are to be written off. Del.icio.us is definitely on my list of ‘OK’ and I think there’s less ‘cheating’ there that there is on Digg anyway. Still, it’s not entirely without its flaws.

  6. It’s already 2007. Do you have another set of these for the year 2007? I wanted to know who made it last year. Hopefully, you can include some worst posts this time. That way, we will know what to do this year and learn from the mistakes of others.
